Model Introduction
The PDQ 34 is a top-notch catamaran, made by PDQ Yachts. The builder designed this power cat based on strong interest in a sailing cat without a mast.

Construction
The hull starts with an 18"mil. layer of Cook CCP gelcoat, followed by a 1-oz. layer of hand-laid mat (the builder does not own a chopper gun) wet out in vinylester resin to prevent osmotic blistering""every hull also gets treated with a 4-coat epoxy InterProtect anti-blistering system. The rest of the vessel""hull, deck and superstructure""is wet out in isophthalic resin, which has better mechanical properties than standard general purpose orthophthalic resin.

The bottoms of both hulls are solid fiberglass. Above the waterline, the sides are cored with 1/2 in. CoreCell structural foam bedded in CoreBond and vacuum bagged to the outer fiberglass skin""an excellent method of ensuring integrity in the skin-to-core bondline. Inner and outer fiberglass skins are 22 oz. non-woven triaxial fiberglass reinforcements. The tunnel area, which is subjected to considerable wracking forces, has a double layer of fiberglass in the outer skin, as well as longitudinal stiffeners molded into the outer skin. The deck and deckhouse are also cored with CoreCell, 3/4 in. and 5/8 in., respectively.

The engines are supported by an all-fiberglass grid system""increasing the mass of the engine beds would be a simple way of reducing the vibration levels felt above the engines""especially at idle.
