They are very comfortable for driver and passengers and their large interiors and generous trunks yield plenty of storage space.
This 2009 Large Premium Cars Buyer's Guide is a compiled list of the top-performing large upscale cars from J.D. Power and Associates three key automotive studies. The studies include the 2008 Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS), the 2008 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, and the 2008 Initial Quality Study (IQS). In addition, we have also noted any models in the guide that have earned "5-star" crash test scores from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), or have been chosen as "Top Safety Picks" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). All models are listed alphabetically by manufacturer.
2009 Cadillac DTS
The largest car in the Cadillac lineup, the DTS ("DeVille Touring Sedan") replaced the DeVille model for the 2006 model year. The front-wheel-drive luxury sedan seats up to 6 passengers within its cabin and is available in two models. The luxury model offers the standard V-8 while the performance model is fitted with a specially tuned engine generating slightly more power. The standard DTS V-8 model earns EPA fuel economy ratings of 15 mpg city and 23 mpg highway in government testing. Cadillac DTS owners were asked about their vehicle's quality after the first 90 days of ownership in our 2008 Initial Quality Study (IQS). The results were favorable enough to rank the DTS among the top three models its segment. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) also named the Cadillac DTS a Top Safety Pick for 2008.
