Model Introduction
The Key West 176 CC, which replaces an earlier Key West 17-footer, has more deadrise for a smoother ride and more freeboard"allowing the deck to be higher off the water for improved self draining, and a 25-in. transom so the boat can handle a heavier 4-stroke outboard engine. One feature that makes Key West's boats so appealing in general is that they come very well equipped, especially given the price point for a17-footer with standard features"a boarding ladder, compass, raw water washdown, livewell, anchor locker with an anchor, insulated portable cooler, pop-up cleats and cockpit courtesy lights.

Construction
The Key West 176 CC is built to last and has all-fiberglass composite construction. After the gelcoat goes on the mold, the hull bottom and the lower section of the hull sides are sprayed with a coat of vinylester resin-based SprayCore barrier coat to help prevent osmotic blistering. Coremat is used on the sides to help minimize print-through of the fiberglass reinforcement pattern. The hull bottom is solid fiberglass. An iso-based DCPD-blend resin, which does not shrink as much during curing and therefore has better cosmetic properties, is used throughout the hull skin laminate. The hull is supported with a one-piece fiberglass stringer grid that's completely encapsulated in fiberglass. The transom is cored with a high-density Coosa urethane foam reinforced with fiberglass strands.
