Model Introduction

The same attributes that make this boat suited to offshore sportfishing make it a good cruising yacht, specifically speed, a great ride and seakindly motions, and a comfortable interior.

Construction
The Cabo 40 Flybridge is very well built, starting with a standard 25-mil. layer of gelcoat against the mold. Vinylester resin is used throughout the solid bottom and cored hull sides laminate. Vinylester resin is far more impervious to water migration at the molecular level, since it cross-links more completely, preventing osmosis. Plus, its elongation neatly matches that of the fiberglass substrate, resulting in a much stronger and more impact-resistant laminate. It's also better glue, so secondary bonds are stronger. Cabo even paints two coats of epoxy on the bottom of the boat, which is certainly not needed to prevent blistering on this boat.

Non-woven fiberglass reinforcements are used throughout the hull laminate. The bottom is solid while the sides are cored with CoreCell. Cabo has a laminating crew that does nothing but work with the core materials, using bonding putty and vacuum bags to ensure a sound skin-to-core bondline throughout the hull structure. Controlling the temperature inside the building helps to regulate exotherm, so the laminate hardens when it's expected to. ...
